Wow,

Firstly, I apologise for not knowing how to remove the image of the scanner lid.  I tried to do "crop" using PAINT but I could not find the tool.  I did find the Re-size" button though.

And secondly, may I apologise for overlooking the info about Teddle's mother...  Black hair, and Olive complexion (Portugese heritage).  Teddles complexion is very fair, hair white.  At one stage Teddles was tested re Albino issues.

You have both made absolutely fantastic work of a small photo and I am so in awe of the efforts.  I forgot to explain those details in my efforts to remember the dress colour.   I am very embarassed, especially as there's the shadow of Teddle's Gran on the verandah, always in her hat,  the front door ajar, and the door stopper (bootmaker's anvil (?) which you both have found, and the Lillies in bloom too.   :-[  :-[  :-[  :-[  :-[

Hi,

May I ask for some colour for this early photo of Teddles.   Here’s a thread from Oct 2010 which has brought much joy to various rellies.  http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,491471.0.html
This current photo was definitely taken at the same location, and is very definitely an earlier one of Teddles.    Teddles’ mother was wearing a suit in a very very pale green.  And yes, Teddles remembers being curtailed from “taking off” by a twisted cord held in both hands by various rellies.  I suspect there’s a cord being used in this photo too.

There is absolutely NO urgency for my request, and I will definitely understand if I have asked once too often.

Many thanks,

Teddles.

I ask about percentage, because by such I have an equivalent percentage as if a grandparent was actually born there.  The work out is as follows:  2 Great-Grandparents from Ireland=100% Irish grandmother=50% Irish parent=25% Irish me.  Where as if 1 grandparent from Ireland=50% Irish parent=25% Irish me.  Either way I work out to be the same percentage heritage.

I realise that in general that great-grandparents are considered to be too distant, however there is a major difference between 1 great grandparent ergo a 50% Irish grandparent and so on, and a 100% Irish grandparent...

Hellllllllllllllooooooooooooo Brendan

What’s with this adding up percentages ….. WHY would you add up percentages?

You have

2 parents     2/2 = 100%
4 grandparents  4/4 = 100%
8 great grandparents 8/8 = 100%

I think your Matherickings are a bit 'double dutch' to me  ;D

2 /8 greats were Irish = 1/4 OF THAT GENERATION were Irish = 25% of THAT GENERATION  ;D

Using your mathericking logickings and my fingers
4 grandparents = 12.5% Irish
2 parents generation = 6.25% Irish

I think you are 3.125 % Irish

  ::)

What about the other 96.875%

Glenbervie is located in the North East of Scotland in the Howe o' the Mearns. One mile from the village of Drumlithie, and eight miles south of Stonehaven in Aberdeenshire,  this picturesque rural area is home to Glenbervie House and estate.

The old, quaint kirkyard in Glenbervie is the final resting place of the great grandparents of the noted Scottish poet Robert Burns.

Is it in Aberdeenshire?
