Devon / WARREN Family. Zeal Monochorum/Coldridge
« on: Saturday 29 October 11 05:29 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for a marriage for George Warren and Mary ???? about 1750. They had 9 children all born in Zeal M, the eldest John in 1753.  I found a George Warren born in Coldridge 1719 but the only marriage I could find was to a Joan Paddon in 1743 in ZM,  have checked the IGI for both places but can find only the one George.  Can anyone suggest where I could look further.  Moya

Hello Frances, just thought of another question after I'd posted my previous message.  William Lewney was the youngest son of Robert & Joney Lewney, born 1744.  I have traced all his children and have seen a transcript of his will, his wife is named Judith, but I have been unable to find what her maiden name was or an exact date of marriage, their eldest child was born in 1775,  they lived in Lonan.  Can you help in finding Judith's name.  Regards Moya

Thankyou Frances.  Found will summary, also have found birth of John Lewney in 1783, mother Eleanor Moughtin, born after his father died.  Still can't find birth for Ann or marriage of John to Eleanor Moughtin, any suggestions of where to look ? Regards  Moya

Isle of Man / Robert & Joney Lewney

Robert & Joney Lewney of Lonan, both died in January 1783,  Intestate.  Administrators were appointed.  It is noted that among those to share in the effects were the children of John Lewney, deceased ( a son). These 4 children were all underage so I am assuming they were all born after 1763.  Their names were William, John,  Ellinor and Ann. I am hoping to find who their father John was married to and also the birthdates of the children.  I did find a birth for William 1774  and Ellinor  1776, but no luck with John or Ann.  Can anyone help ??  Regards  Moya

Isle of Man Lookup Requests / Re: Hannah Welsh
« on: Sunday 09 October 11 06:05 BST (UK)  »
Ann Welsh christened 5 June 1851  St Barnabas, Douglas.  Jane Haye Kneale married Ed. Byon Welsh, (incorrect transcription ? ) 2 Dec 1849.  Previous married Robert Kneale 31 Dec 1842.  There is a record of the burial of Robert Kneale in 1847, age 23.  If this is the same man he would have been age 18 at time of marriage to Jane. The three older children on the 1851 census are Jane's children to Robert Kneale  (ages are incorrect  Elizabeth born 1843,  Robert  1848  and William  1846 ).  Enumerator has assumed that Hannah was also a Kneale.  Not sure how you can get birth record as civil registration for births didn't start until 1878.  Regards  moya

Hello Gordon & Dave.  My humble apologies for not replying to your posts, got somewhat bogged down with family matters.  However I am pleased to say that I received some very helpful information from the Maritime Museum which I was not expecting as they had told me they did not do research.  I was emailed copies from William Daniels character book (seemed to have been somewhat of a larrikin) and also a list of some of his children by his two wives.  William did have a brother John who may have been the pilot John Daniels b. 1818 but I cannot prove this.  Many thanks for all your help.  Moya
