Hi Philg65,

Interested in you note. I am now researching my family, Philps of Fife. William Philp married Isabelle Weepers in Anstruther 1800s. He is believed to be the son of John Philp who drowned off Largo in early 1800s. William came to Australia in 1850 and settled in Tasmania and I am one of that family.

Eager to know any more about your Philps

Hi to you to DDJJake,

I am in Australia. We are nearing the centre of our winter but the weather is still mild.I will be in Scotland in August to enjoy some of your summer.

Thank you very much for the information you have sent on the Philps. I have drawn complete blanks in tracking them back to Scotland but your info is very valuable.

Do you have a connection with any of the Philps? Also is there a Philp clan and if so do they have a coat of arms? My mother's family were from Ireland ( rebels who fought Queen Elizabeth I). Before arriving in Scotland we will be attending a clan meeting with that side of the family.

Thanks again. Any additional info would be very valuable.

Regards,

Peter Philp

Dear DDJJAke (Henderson)

Thank you for your reply. I am looking for info on Robert Philp, born St Andrews 1849 and as a child went to Tasmania (Australia). He later became a Methodist Minister.

Do you have any links to the Philps.

Regards,

Peter Philp

Hi Wendy and Mike,
Sorry to jump in on your chat but have just joined this site and came across your chat about the PHILPS of Fife.

My name is Peter from Melbourne Australia. I am trying to research my family linage back to Fife before travelling to Scotland in August.

My great grandfather was Robert Philp born in St Andrews (I believe) in 1849. As a child he came to Australia and lived in Tasmania. He was later ordained into the Methodist Church, move to Victoria and became the President of the Methodist Conference. He married Elizabeth Morey in Australia.

Wonder if yours and mine link. Love to hear back from you.

Regards,

Peter

Hi there,

Have just joined this site and see that you have an interest in the Philp's of Fife, Scotland.

My name is Peter from Melbourne Australia and am researching the linage of my clan before travelling to Scotland in August.

My great grandfather was Robert Philp, born (I believe) in St Andrews in 1849. As a child he came to Australia and later became a leading clergymen with the Methodist Church. I understand that his family roots in Scotland were Presbyterian.

Wondering if your Philps might link into mine.

Regards, Peter Philp
