Hi Ken,

Thanks for your reply.  I have checked the records at findmypast.  This William Patterson was would probably have been born in Scotland.  The dates don't seem to work out.  There was one record that might have been a fit, but the transcript and the original documents were mismatched.  findmypast are going to try to sort it out.

We have found his wife and daughters living at Plumstead on the 1861 census.

Thanks, Barbara

I am looking for further information on Private William Patterson who was with the Royal Artillery in Limerick in 1843.  While there, he married Ellen Cronin.  Many thanks, Barbara

Hi Denis,

Belatedly, thank you for the Mundy info.  Sometime I will spend more time on the earlier families.  Now, I spend most of my time gathering info on the lines descending from Mary Chaworth and John Musters.  So much is written about this family and I am spending some time compiling the info.  I can't be of any help on the question of the Mundys.  Is there a Mundy thread or interest group?  Thanks again, Denis.

Cornwall Lookup Requests / Re: Silas Edward MARTYN born abt 1818 St. Columb Cornwall

Hi Denis,

I enjoy reading your Martyn family info.  Coincidently, my husband's paternal line has a Mundy in it.  Millicent Mundy, daughter of Adryan Mundy, Quorn, Derbyshire, who married John Musters, son of Sir John Musters, also a Lord Mayor of London.  Sometime I must look into it and see where Adryan and John Mundy cross.  It is never ending...not enough hours, days or years to find all those answers.

Thanks, Barbara

Does anyone have these two brothers in their family tree? I am particularly looking to contact their descendants. Thanks, Barbara

Thank you Kris, and thank you Denis for the added info.

Something stirred in my memory and I have a bible which my son was given for  his Christening from my husband's grandmother,  Molly Emerson C-M. Well, it comes from her Aunt Isabel Allin Martyn Godlee who was given it by her grandmama, Sarah Martyn.  It is not a family Bible but a personal one.  It has always been special - but now even more so.

Also, I have found a little handwritten invitation to Silas to have tea with the Lord Mayor.

Fun,   Barbara

Hi Tim,

William H Liddell was my husband's ggrandmother's, Emily Constance Martyn's, godfather.  She was baptized at All Saints Knightsbridge on 21 Sept 1861.

Hi Kris,

Thank you for helping with these details.  No, I haven't verifed that last child of Silas Edward and Mary Matilda.  There is a death of an Ernest William Martyn in St. Austell Cornwall reported Oct - Dec 1869, of a child not yet a year old.  It is possibly the same.

I agree with your advice about not taking info from others trees.  I usually use it as a starting point and then work through the family members verifying what may be given.

Just not enough hours in the day.  Thanks again, Kris.   Barbara
