Midlothian / Re: Dalkeith cemetery plans/inscriptions

I have used the Local Studies centre at Loanhead and have consulted a register with all the burials in the the old and new Dalkeith cemeteries. Ken Bogle also photocopied a plan of the cemetery for me so you can easily find the plot you are looking for.

Found this on RCAHMS website, cited as being House of Muir, Ormiston - see www.rootschat.com/links/0btw/ (link has been shrunk down) . I have some personal photos too - must get round to uploading them!

Hi,I also have ancestors who are listed as having lived here. In fact my grandfather and his mother were born at House o'Muir. You might notice from census returns that the occupation of most of the male members of families living there was that of coal miners. I think it can best be described as a tiny village with a collection of small cottages used to house local farm workers or miners . The photo I have is one I took over 10 years ago and shows some of the buildings being used as a pig farm!( I don't actually have the photo on me right now to upload on to the site as I am writing this at work)
Hope this is of some use.

Cavan / Hazzard family from County Cavan
« on: Sunday 26 March 06 13:53 BST (UK)  »
Have traced my GGGrandfather as being born in Cavan. His name was Richard Hazzard, born 1829. Married and fathered many children in East  Lothian and Midlothian, Scotland. His father's name was Alexander Hazzard (or Hassard) and he died in Glasgow. Richard Hazzard himself died in Dalkeith, Midlothian. Anyone out there think they have a link to this family?

I saw census records for East Lothian for the years you mention at the Church for Latter day Saints Family History Centre at Colinton Road in Edinburgh. Could possibly check something for you in future?
