Hi again Mark,
There are a few baptisms in the OFHS transcription of Woodstock parish register that may interest you.

1807 Aug 16  AKERMAN William s. of Jane
1810 Jan 7     AKERMAN Edward s. of Jane
1815 Feb 15  AKERMAN Maria d. of William CHARWOOD shoebinder, and Jane AKERMAN
1817 Nov 12 CHARLWOOD Frederick s. of William, shoemaker, and Jane

So perhaps the convict Edward AKERMAN is Jane's son?

Oxfordshire Completed Look Up Requests / Re: Shipton under Wychwood PR look up
« on: Sunday 13 March 11 08:20 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
The following baptisms from the OFHS Shipton under Wychwood Parish Register transcripts
1822 Sep 2 Benjamin s of Benjamin - baker R (R = Ramsden)
1828 Aug 4 Caroline  d of Benjamin & Caroline - baker R
1831 Apr 11 William   s of Benjamin & Caroline - baker R
1833 Aug 30 Anne     d of Benjamin & Caroline - baker R

From OHFS Marriage Index
SHEPHERD Benjamin married at Northleigh to LAY Caroline on 13 May 1818
Both appear to be of the parish

Birthplace of both Benjamin & Caroline is given as Northleigh in the 1851 census.

It is possible Martha was baptised at Northleigh or in another nearby parish. Unfortunately I cannot help with baptisms in Northleigh. Hopefully someone else can.

Oxfordshire Lookup Requests / Re: Robert Monk b.1780 - St Giles
« on: Friday 11 March 11 23:22 GMT (UK)  »
Hi again Celeste.
That's a shame. thought they might be mentioned as next of kin before his marriage.
There are a few MONK marriages in Oxfordshire in the right time frame, but none listed at St. Giles.

Sorry to hear about your other research experiences, thank goodness the bank saw fit to refund your money.

I hope someone with access to St Giles parish records comes along to help.

Hi Celeste,
Unfortunately I can't help with the possible baptism of Robert MONK in St Giles.

Are Robert's parents names mentioned in his Army records?
If they are, share them here and I can look up the OFHS Oxfordshire Marriage Index for you.

Is there a genealogy society/family reseach centre near you? They usually have many overseas resources to help with your research.

ray

Hi again Ray
As I mentioned in the private message "The first entry of a CARPENTER in the Southleigh PR is the marriage of William to Elizabeth HAWKINS in 1736"

There are no earlier CARPENTER baptisms, marriages or burials in the OFHS Southleigh PR transcripts.
