I am trying to find out what happened to my great uncle Frederick William Eccles Alcock who emigrated from England to Australia.

He was born in Cheadle, Staffordshire, England in 1889, son of John and Alberta Alcock. By the time his father John died in 1926, he was definitely in Australia.

Thanks for all your replies. Jacquie, you have found some very fascinating info.

To clear up a bit, my grandfather was called Edwin Robert Eccles Alcock. He stayed in England, married Rose Maud Plant in 1925 and died in 1969 in Staffordshire.

Walter Eccles Alcock was my grandfather's brother.

I am looking for information on Walter Eccles Alcock who emigrated to Canada.

Here's what I know about him:

He was born in 1887 in Cheadle, Staffs, England, son of John and Alberta Annie Alcock.

There is a record of a Walter E. Alcock arriving 16 Aug 1915 in New York. He was 28 years 8 Months, port of departure Liverpool, England. Est. birth year listed as 1886. Born in Cheadle. He is single and occupation is listed as commercial traveller. Last residence was Stoke on Trent. Next of kin listed as Father John Alcock from 23 Woodhouse Street, Stoke on Trent. The ship's name was the S.S. New York.

When his father died in 1927, Walter was living in Canada.

That's all I know. I'd be very interested if anybody could come up with more information.

Thanks in advance.

Interesting!

On my blog, I have a picture of Mary and Samuel Roseveare with their 2 oldest children:

Are you a descendent of theirs? Mary was the oldest child of my great grandfather John Alcock.
