Flintshire Lookup Requests / Re: Bangor Is y Coed Royal Oak Inn

Hi Eldon, thanks very much for that info.   I did notice that the pics of the Pub, looked as though it had a facelift, all cream and black unlike the time I took
photos of it some years ago,was all white with black timbers, so im gonna do what you suggest and try the new landlord.
The last time I went there it was a lovely summers day and I sat by the old bridge and had a nice pint and enjoyed the day, and that lovely old church
almost next door to the Inn, it mus have been a real quiet country village
way back in 1870.
NICE TO HEAR FROM YOU.  TED.

Flintshire Lookup Requests / Margaret Furness. BANGOR IC Y COED
« on: Friday 08 January 10 14:11 GMT (UK)  »
hi all, this is further to my request for my g. grandfather JOSHUA HEWITT
being the inn keeper and farmer of the Royal OAK in BANGOR IC Y COED.

Margaret was one of my g. aunts who lived in the Royal Oak in the years
1868 to 1872ish and when she married and had a family of her own and when her husband retired from work Margaret remembered the good times she had
in Bangor that she came back to live there with her husband in the Village of BANGOR IC Y COED.

So im wondering if there are any members of the Furness families or anyone who knew them  could be still living in the area.  If there is I would love to hear
from anyone.

THANKS VERY MUCh.   TED. :) ;)

Flintshire Lookup Requests / Bangor Is y Coed Royal Oak Inn
« on: Tuesday 05 January 10 23:00 GMT (UK)  »
:) ;)hi everyone.  my g.grandfather JOSHUA HEWITT was the Inn Keeper of the Royal Oak, down by the bridge over the river and right opposite the Church, way back in 1868 to 1872/3 he was also a farmer with 14 acres and his eldest
daughter Mary Ann married a local farmer William Pearson from Pothurgan not more than half a mile away.
One of my daughters visited the Inn about 2 years ago and she told me there
were photos on the wall in the bar of young children playing together with some photos of the Inn Keeper and they seemed to be taken a good while ago
and im wondering if they could be my great aunts and uncles, as Joshua and Elllen had 7 or 8 children at the time.
Is there anyone living in that area who could do me the honour of asking the present manager or owner of the Inn if he know just who the famaily are in the photo, maybe theres a name on the back of the photo.
When the eventually left and came back to Lancashire a few years later, another one of my g.aunts Margaret married and when they retired some years later, she went back to live in Bangor with her husband becaused she remembered the haappy days she had there in Bangor as a child, her name when she returned with her husband was Furness. Maybe someone living in the village would remember the name.   Thanks a bundle  TED

Denbighshire / RUTHIN - DUTTON FAMILY.
« on: Friday 18 February 05 20:39 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all, ive just found my g/aunt MARGARET ANN DUTTONs death in RUTHIN - 1956- age 76.  She came from LPOOL but married into the DUTTON family in CHESTER in 1914, they came from SOUTH WALES,  LLANELLY in the 1880s and they were PAWBROKERs and JEWELLERYs.  When her husband EDWIN HENRY DUTTON died in CHESTER - 1949 she must have moved to RUTHIN with members of the family, although iIm not sure whether she had any children .  Is there anyone who knows of present day DUTTONs living in RUTHIN?  They were always hard working and always shops or the likes where ever they went.  Thanks very much TED.
