Family History Beginners Board / BOUCHER mainly WORCESTERSHIRE
« on: Sunday 05 October 14 03:42 BST (UK)  »
Hi, i seem to be stuck in trying to find my ancestors named BOUCHER. So far I have got my grandfather WILLIAM BOUCHER b 1900 in West Bromwich Workhouse, his mother was EMMA/EMILY BOUCHER b June 1875 in West Bromwich father unknown but working as a housekeeper in Handsworth at the time. Her parents were SAMUEL BOUCHER b c1854 in Rushock, Worcestershire and EMMA CORFIELD who married in May, 1875 at Claverley. His parents were SAMUEL BOUCHER b c1816 in Elmley Lovatt and MARIAH ATKINS.  I believe his father was DANIEL but I can get no further.
I hope someone can help me with this, please?

Thank you very much for all of that information...... it is only a few miles from where I live so I will have a ride up there soon and have a look.  I know Dark Lane but have never journeyed up there so it will be an adventure!  :)

I wonder if anyone knows anything about GILES HOUSE, BELBROUGHTON, WORCS please?  I think my g.g.grandfather SAMUEL BOUCHER worked there as a servant in 1871 to Elizabeth White aged 76 who was a farmer.  I have looked on the old maps but can't see it.  I believe SAMUEL married EMMA CORFIELD in Bridgenorth in 1875. I am interested in knowing whether Giles House is still there.  Thank you.

Thank you Weste - yes that's my grandad, we have got that info but it's Emily who is the stumbling block as we have nothing to go on as to which Emily she is out of ALL the Emily Bouchers that flag up...... only the area (Midlands) and even then there are loads.  We just don't have any info as to where born, parents names just that she was 85'ish when she died.  I remember her vaguely as I was about 8 when she died in 1961 and she was lovely and I so so wish I could talk to her now as she must have had a very hard life (as did most in those days I know) and I find it so sad that she registered my grandad's birth when she had just had him in the Workhouse and he registered her death in '61. I think it was the Matron or someone who found the home for Grandad and luckily he did keep in touch with Emily.  What lovely kind people the Williams at Lyndon must have been?

Thank you Charlotte - I will give them a try too!

Have come to a dead end with my great grandmother EMILY BOUCHER.  She was an inmate of WEST BROMWICH UNION WORK HOUSE in 1900 when she had my grandfather WILLIAM BOUCHER JULY 1900 - he was illegitimate and on his birth certificate Emily is listed as a General Servant/Cook in Handsworth.  I have sent for Emily's Death Certificate but it has no date of birth or what her father's name was, she never married so we are stuck now as to how to find her parents etc.....all I know is she is listed as being 85 but that may be wrong.  Would anyone know please if there are records from the Workhouse or GREENSIDE WAY OLD PEOPLE'S HOME, WALSALL/WEST BROMWICH (now closed down) or even if HALLAM HOSPITAL, WEST BROMWICH would have records of her being and dying there.  There are a great many Emily Bouchers !  :(  We had done a lot of research but have now found we were on the wrong track grrrr!!
Thank you :-*

Can anyone help me with Catherine OMalley (b1851/2/3 (or Peter or Charles) child of Bridget Walsh and John OMalley, please? They came from Islandeady, Co.Mayo. Catherine married Michael Mackin but that was in about 1875 when they had settled in Wolverhampton, Staffs.
