Other Countries / Re: LONGDON in India

Hi there,  Do we know what happened to Marianna Longdon after her husband William Ward dies of cholera in 1819 ?  I found a document that says she had four children  and had been left destitute?

Just to throw another spanner in the works....

My 2nd great grandmother was Harriet Louisa Hodge, born abt 1823/25 and depending on which census you look at, she was born in England or the East Indies.   I have no other information to go on other than her name on a birth record for her first daughter Rebecca Harriet in the Channel Islands.
She didn't marry her husband John Bewhey until 1856 in Channel Islands under the name Louisa Hodge and she was born Plymouth, Devon.  Her father is listed as Henry Hodge, but I cannot find any record of her birth nor a Henry Hodge having a daughter of Harriet or Louisa.
I did however, find a record in 1822 St Mary Major, Exeter, Devon of a Louisa Harriet Harris, parents John Harris and Grace Hodge (Battishill).
In 1827, Louisa Harriet is baptised along with Mary Ann Harris?

I could have competely gone down a rabbit hole but wondering if there is any connection?

With regard to Isabella's probate record, do you have a copy of her will as that may record further information.

SS

Thank, yes I do. It leaves everything to her son and no mention of Doris.

Durham / Where is Doris May Taylor?
« on: Tuesday 03 September 24 08:31 BST (UK)  »
Hi there,
I am needing some help locating Doris May Taylor after the 1921 Census.
She is born 28 May 1907 to John Taylor and Isabella Harrison and is the eldest of two children.  Her younger brother John Harrison is born 10 years later in 1917.
We find her on the 1911 Census with her parents living at 75 Tudhoe Colliery Spennymoor, Durham and then in 1921 they are now living a few doors down at 86 Tudhoe Collier, Spennymoor.
Her father dies in 1925 (from TB) at Sedgefield and there is no mention of the children on the will with everything left to Isabella.    I have tried looking for her on the 1939 Uk Census and nothing lines up.  I haven't found a marriage record nor a conclusive death record.   Her mother dies in 1950, but everything is left to her son and no mention of Doris. Its like she never existed.
Any help to find her would be very much appreciated because someone just can't vanish, can they?

Thank you so much!  What a pity we can't read the headstone.  I really appreciate your help with this.

Hi Chris, thank you so much.    Ok the grave reference is C/804 and Herbert is buried with her but there has been a transcription error on his surname (which I'll get corrected).

She was my 2nd great Aunt and the eldest daughter of sixteen children.  She was born in Leiston, Suffolk in 1863 to a Robert and Annie Atkinson.  At 18, she is on the UK census, still living at home in Ashton Under Lyne and still at school - I am curious to know what she was studying before she got married a few years later.

Thanks again,
