thanks, I looked up the occupation: Tinware Mft. so that would probably be why the move to France. Thanks for getting back to my so quickly. Do you think I could find that birth certificate to confirm parents names and finally have a correct date of birth, as I do not read (or speak) French. (unfortunately!

I am research my family as well:
Selina Stirrup born in "Fra, British Subject, Lille" around 1842. This was only child born there, went back to England prior to heading to America in 1855. Cannot find birth cert, or info on this part of France, and why says"british subject". Can any one shed some light on this part of history?
