Hello Jet:  I have just come across your posting regarding your ggg grandmother, Isabella Gibson.  I have been searching for my gg grandfather, James Gibson's parents and just wondered if there is any connection with these two Gibsons.  The record you have for Isabella on the census (1881 aged 22) does not work with James' birthdate of 1826 on Colonsay.  There doesn't appear to be many Gibson's connected to Colonsay which makes me wonder if there is a connection going back in time between our two ancestors.  Hope to hear from you.  Susan

Hello Sandy and Judith:  Thank you so very much for the additional information you have so kindly taken the time to find and pass along to me.  I can't tell you how much I appreciate it.  Discovering the history is an extremely interesting journey, isn't it?  I had kept my research focused on the immediate family up until I realized that Jessie's and James C.'s immigration to Canada may have had a family connection to John Lowe.  If anyone sees a possible breakthrough between these two families that would lead to a positive connection, I would be thrilled.  Until then, I will try and work my way through the twigs and branches.  Thank you again, for your help and information.  Regards, Susan

Hi Sandy:  It looks like I missed one of your messages; you asked about Jessie's death and her parents.  This is what I have found:  Jessie died on Salt Spring Island, B.C.  23 Feb 1932, her parent's were Henry born 1825 or 26 in Sleaford, Derbyshire, no death date for him.  His parents were Thomas Lowe, b: 28 Sep 1783 d: 12 Nov 1854 Sleaford and his mother Mary Hannah b: 1793, Pornthorn.  I have Henry's gg grandparents as Francis Lowe 1745 and Ann Leek, no details.  Jessie's mother: Sarah Strapps, b: 1832, Sleaford, no death date for her or location and no parents for Sarah.  My thoughts were if John and Jessie were cousins or he was, perhaps, an uncle.  If he immigrated to Canada and amassed a huge track of prime farmland and encouraged Jessie and James Cunningham to immigrate and settle in the same region as well.  Thanks for your assistance and thoughts to date.  Regards, Susan

Hi Sandy:  Yes, that must be her - parent's name are correct and birth year as well.  I had the location as Old Leake, Boston, Lincolnshire rather than Leverton, though.  Still trying to find a connection between Jessie's family and John Lowe's family as I find it just too coincidental that Jessie and her husband, Herbert Cunningham, ended up with a Western Land grant in Manitoba in the "Lowe Farm" area.  Thanks for your information.  Susan

Hi All Respondents:  Thank you all so much for the information you have discovered and kindly posted for me.  I am so grateful and amazed at what you have found.  The reason I am searching down this path is that during my search for my husband's family, I found their Western Land Grant for farmland in Manitoba, Canada.  I took the legal description and converted it to survey maps and discovered that it was in the very fertile Red River Valley in a region known as "Lowe Farm".  My husband's grandmother's maiden name was "Lowe".  The thought was that perhaps John Lowe who developed this massive farm could possibly be related to Jessie Thomasine Lowe and when she decided to immigrate to Canada, she, naturally, gravitated to a relative who, in turn, granted her this prime section of farm land.  John Lowe was employed as a Government Agent at one time in his life, I haven't checked on the dates which could correspond to the Land Grant and his position at the time.  The co-incidence of her name and his being the same has been too great to pass up but I haven't made the family connection yet.  Thanks to everyone so far.  Susan

Hi:  Searching for LOWE, John,  born:20 Feb 1824, parents James Lowe and Anne Clarke in Warrington.  D. 7 Nov 1913 in Canada.  John Lowe developed the very large Lowe Farm in Manitoba, Canada which still bears his name.  I would like to discover if there were siblings and the names of the grandparents, if possible.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Susan
