Thanks everyone for your help. I found the posting from Bangorgirl but it's 10 months since she has been online, so hoping she will get the message.

Wonderful to get help, thanks again.
Linda

Hello there,

I've been looking through my Grandmother's papers and found a letter from someone called Pam from New Zealand seeking information relating to the Caulfields and Majureys mentioned in this thread.  I found this post after a little Google-ing...Artemis - are you Pam?!  I have a bunch of family tree and birth/death information here and, if I've worked it all out correctly, I am the great great great granddaughter of the Sarah and James John Caulfield mentioned above.  My grandmother was Margaret Caulfield, the youngest daughter of Robert.

I hope that you are able to see this message and get in touch!  If I don't hear from you soon I shall post a letter to the address I have from your letter of 1996 and keep my fingers crossed that you are still living there.

With warm wishes,
Beth

Greetings from Canada,

I was so excited to read this post! I am researching the Caufield/Tweedie name from Bangor, Ireland for my Minister. He is the grandson of Robert Caulfield, son of Robert's daughter Dorothy, Margaret's sister.

Do hope this message reaches you and would love to correspond.

Thanks so much.

Linda

I need help, please. Hours ago, I found a 'message' on this site but can't get back to it! The person was referring to the name Caulfield.

it read something like this...."if I have it correct I am the grgrgrgranddaughter of Robert Caulfield's youngest daughter Margaret."

I just can't seem to navigate back to that message. My relative is a grandson of Margaret's sister Dorothy. Would dearly love to communicate with this person.

Would be grateful for any help.
thank you,
Linda

Thank you for your help.  Sorry, 1812 was wrong, s/b 1912 for John Raney's 2nd marriage.
Checking out the suggestions and find that John and his siblings were born in Newbliss, co Monaghan.  They are listed as C of England.

It's all overwelming to me but working through the mazes. Very appreciative of your help.

Monaghan / Raney name from Ireland early 1800's
« on: Tuesday 04 May 10 06:06 BST (UK)  »
Hoping that Irish roots can be found on John Raney, b approx. 1838 in Ireland. Went to Canada approx. 1856.
1871 Canada census: Name spelled Rainey,  Married to Elizabeth Thompson, 1st. child Sarah J. born 1859, then Elizabeth, Thomas, John W., Florence and David.  Living in Gwillimbury, Simcoe county, Ontario, moving to Sundridge, Strong Township, Ontario in 1879.

John as a widow in 1812 remarries a Harriet Stone and lists his father as Andrew Raney, mother as Margaret Kemp both from Ireland.

I can't find any Irish records of John.  Would be most grateful for any help or suggestions.

Thank you,
Linda
