thanks ev,

i didn't know when hugh had died and i found jane in the 1861 and 1871 census, she was living with her mom's sister in the 1861 census and she was living with a different family in the 1871 census, she is listed single in both census and she is listed as a teacher

ev,

you mentioned you are related to the cairds, hugh and jane would be related to some of them. would you have any other information about hugh or jane like death dates or maybe if jane had a marriage

ev,

yes my Thomas Lumsdean Lockhart was born Sept. 23, 1832 to Adair and Barbara Blair. I don't have a death for Thomas' brother William or anything about his sister Margaret Miller Lockhart or James Lockhart. Thomas and his brother George both immigrated to Canada so I have their information but not the other siblings. I do have information of Hugh and Jane and a little of the Cairds but not much.

also, thanks Jean.

Hi Jean,

I know this is a long shot because I can not come up with any information of my Great Great Grandfather's death in Benholm. He lived on Black Street, Benholm Parish, Johnshaven up until his death between 1851-1854. I am assuming he must be buried at Benholm. His name was Adair Lockhart and since he died between that time there is no death certificate but I am keeping my fingers crossed that I  may be able to find his burial. Maybe since you have the pre-1855 index he may be listed. Thanks for any help you can give, it is greatly appreciated.
