Thomas Riley Smalley was married in Blackburn in 1906 and immigrated to Canada shortly after. He and his wife, Elizabeth Jennifer (nee)Cunliffe lived in Calgary Alberta and later moved to Vancouver, BC. 4 sons..WilFred, James, Thomas, and William. William was killed over Holland on return flight of a bombing mission in 1944 World War II. James was my father. His mother, for clarity, died in 1950. James, my father, died in 1954 and TR senior died in 1971. TR Jr died in the late 1990's, not sure which year. Not sure when Wilf died.
Thomas Riley (TR Sr) was GrandMaster of the Shrine Lodge in the 1950's and remained Past Grand Master through the 1960's. James victor served in World War II 1939 to 1945, with the British Commonwealth Cavelry- Princess Patricia's Light Infentry (BCC-PPLI). He served in England, North Africa, Sicily, and Italy as a "Pathfinder" which as I understand is somewhat like todays special forces.
