APrivate baptism was usually done just after the birth as it was thought that the baby may not live. Reasons were not usually given.

Worth remembering that year of baptism does not always equate with year of birth. Some people weren't baptised as babies but as children or even adults.

What about this baptism?

Rebecca Bates baptised Fenny Stratford 16 October 1782, parents Thomas and Ann.

Fenny Stratford is 3 miles from Milton Keynes according to Genuki.

It looks like the fever was 14 days and the pneumonia 2 days.

Good thought re the burial being the mother. Don't know why that didn't occur to me.

I can find the following baptisms for children with parents William and Heaster

Mary  August 1770
Mary 5 January 1772
William 19 June 1774

Burials
Mary 10 January 1771
Mary 8 October 1772

Regarding the Hester baptism and burial it is highly likely that it is the same child.
