Suffolk / Re: Parish Records for Little Glenham
« on: Monday 03 May 10 20:20 BST (UK)  »
Hi

Suffolk has 3 record offices, one in Lowestoft, one in Ipswich and one in Bury St Edmunds. If you live near any of them you can go to any one and look up the PRs. I do know the Lowestoft one has microfiche for parishes for the whole of Suffolk. The parish registers of Little Glemham should give his parents names. A first name like Abraham helps.

Ben

Dammit! :P
I live in the Southern Hemisphere so strolling down to the record offices may be out of the question at this point in time!LOL
Thanks for your help though. ;D

Suffolk / Hunte
« on: Monday 03 May 10 20:17 BST (UK)  »
I was just going through "The rising in East Anglia in 1381 : with an appendix containing the Suffolk poll tax lists for that year"
http://www.archive.org/stream/risingineastangl00poweuoft/risingineastangl00poweuoft_djvu.txt
and while I was looking for the surname Hunt in the poll tax list I kept finding several people with the name "Hunte".
Can anyone tell me if this was the old version of Hunt or was it a variant of some sort?
I've searched the internet but can't seem to find anything on it.

Thanks Ben.

I found those records of George and Eliza aswell.
I am pretty sure that George and Thomas were Abraham's brothers.
I just can't seem to work out who their parents were!!!! ???
I'm sure I'll figure it out though, it's all part of the fun of geneology!

BTW, apart from census records are their any other records I should be looking for??
I still haven't been able to locate any parish records for Little Glemham.

Hi

I have ancestors from Great Glemham. I also have Hunt ancestors in the same area from Parham.

When did Abraham marry and when did he die?

Ben

Hi Ben

Abraham married Frances Cakebread on Jan 23 1826 at Christ Church Greyfriars Newgate, London, England.
I have no idea when he died but I do know that he was still alive in 1881.

For more info check out my other thread.

Thanks so much Suz!
That info is like gold to me!! ;D

Here's a link to my other posting about the Hobbs family.

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,453372.0.html

Until now I have been hitting a brick wall at Victoria, Australia where Thomas and Sarah moved to and raised their family.
It wasn't until I was sent a copy of a birth certificate of one of Thomas's children that I discovered where he(Thomas) was born!

BTW, the census details you posted for 1841 say Edward Burgess's age is 1. Is this a typo or is that what it says on the census?

Thanks again :) :)

I'm now on the hunt for any information about the Hobbs family who lived in St Lawerence in the 1800s.
Thanks to Kerry1212 I was able to find out who my great great great great grandparents were but know I just want to know more!!!!

Now what I would love to know is does anyone else out there have any other information about things like William's occupation, who were his parents, when did he get married, actually anything about the Hobbs family would be great!!!!

This genealogy stuff is addictive!!!! :o
I've spent the last day filling in family trees!!!LOL
