Thank you for your emails. The posting on RootsChat was for a colleague rather for myself. Thank you again for willing to share information but in this instance I have to say no thanks.  Regards,  Dave Hunter

I can't remember where I got Sowerby Bridge from!!!!

Charles 41
Ann   40
James 16
Moses 14
Thomas 12
Charles 10
Mary   5
Ellen   2

looks just about perfect. I don't know why it won't show for me on Ancestry. Maybe the way I'm loading the search request.

Am I pushing my luck for 1841?

Dave

Thank you for this. I'll look at in in more detail.

If I read the 1861 Census correctly, Charles is living with his brother James (24), sister Mary (14) and sister Ellen (12) in Moss Place Bury. That makes me want to look for all 4 of them together in 1851. That's what is beating me.

ps in reply to a marriage: He married Rebecca Norris in Warrington Q4 1871.    D

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Charles Mills - born circa 1840 Sowerby Bridge
« on: Monday 20 October 14 14:30 BST (UK)  »
Good Afternoon,

For a Liverpool based friend I am researching the family history of a CHARLES MILLS who was born circa 1840 in Sowerby Bridge.

I can find him in census returns  (for Bury, Lancashire) from 1851 onwards. In each case he is reported as being a Coppersmith.

The 1861 census shows him living, aged 20, along with his brothers and sisters(?) at Moss Place Bury with, presumably, his uncles family.

I cannot find him in either the 1851 or 1841 Census returns.

Any help to track him down would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance for any time and effort put in.

D Hunter

Apologies to all concerned if I have caused duplication of effort between the boards.

I just didn't consider the link between to two boards.

Thanks once again for the help you have given us, it really is much appreciated.

Thanks for all the help you've given us.

We now have something to work on, and you say I need to invest in a birth certificate to be sure.

Thanks once again.

The birth record is all the information I have.

I'm looking it up for an old friend - i.e. older than me - and we struggling.
