Hi, I am seeking any details of the case of Ellen Poznanski (nee Lloyd - my 3x gt grandmother), who was committed to two months imprisonment at the Quarter Sessions in Bath on 13th April 1852 for larceny (theft). Any personal details will help enormously. Can anyone help, please?

Sorry I didn't get back to you to thank you for your efforts, which I do now. I have been folowing a tenuous lead - IGI has thrown up reference to a Sarah Elliott, born abt 1789 to Mr & Mrs James Elliott in St Martins H'west. As this is within 6/7 years of my John Elliott, it is tempting to speculate that this may be John's family, and puts a James Elliott in Haverfordwest at the right time. IGI(LDS) gives the parents births as abt 1757 & 1761 respectively and their marriage in abt 1788.

Are any of these dates/events traceable?

The couple in Pembroke Dock in '61 are indeed my ancestors and the thought had crossed my mind that John Dennis may have "mixed up the truth a bit".

The family in Kenwyn look very compelling and I will now pursue that lead, thank you. I'll let you know how I get on

I am trying to get some kind of lead on my 3 x gt grandfather, John Dennis

In the '61 & '71 censuses he gives his birthplace simply as St Columb, Cornwall but with different ages. I now have his marriage certificate from which I would resolve his date of birth to be abt.1827. However, since the marriage took place in Pembroke Dock, Wales and his address at the time given as Pembroke Dock, I have no further clues as to his pedigree other than his father was also John whose proffession is given as tailor. John stayed in Wales.

Cornwall OPC can only identify one candidate, but baptised 1831 in St John. I found this family in the '51 census, and Johns place of birth is given as St John, which is miles out! This also probably rules out the family moving and a late baptism.

Has anyone come across any Dennis families in St Columb (don't know which), and if so are there any clues that might be worth persuing?

John Elliot married Ann: St Martins, Haverfordwest. I am hoping someone may be able to help with the surname of Ann. I have the date of Jan 31 1830 noted against the marriage, but cannot re-trace where this info was gleaned from - is this correct?

I am also interested in the baptism of their first children, Mary and William who are both listed as the same age (year of birth 1830) in the 1841 & 1851 censuses. Are they noted as twins? Working by the various dates, I suspect they would have been baptised end of 1830/beginning 1831.
