Not sure how much of a help this could be.
Currently two postcards on TradeMe in New Zealand for sale. I have copied the images out of interest for you. I have been writing a book about the history of Ashhurst here in New Zealand, there are a lot of Curries/Currys, here.
Was not sure if this Robert Currie was connected, and then I noticed the back of the cards which had Robert Beveridge Currie! Quick search online and I found your discussion, so fingers crossed this could be of help to you all.

:) Just bumping this up in the hope that someone will know their relationships to these people. I have found no living relatives yet in England. So if the Adams/Seanor name rings a bell from Oldham or Rochdale, please sing out!

I have probably about 100 photos that need identifying, as the years roll by, this is only going to get harder. They had strong links with the Salvation Army in the 1880's onwards too.

Merry Christmas!

Have had the best news for a wee while now, found an original picture of the first house named Tyntesfield in New Zealand. Already had a photo of its replacement in the 1890's, but the original had burnt down by then, and it's replacement burnt down eventually too!

The Tyntesfields of New Zealand did not fare quite as well as the original it would seem!

I will try to look into that Hannah. But I do know that the Sewells and the Metfords were related through different people, ie.. not in a direct line. In saying that, it seems too coincidental to be anything but a match. I wonder if Metford was in there as a middle name remembering a different but related line.

Will put my thinking hat on...!

PS: would be nice if you could get back at least one more person from your Grandfather, most of my records finish around 1900.

That is some excellent news, great to know there are descendants on the Sewell side, I was beginning to worry!

Had a look once for a Sewell tree, and figured that most of that line had moved on without issue, and that I would struggle to find any living relatives. Have been proven wrong in the best way!

Please do let us know what you can find, I can do likewise.

So what happened to the Seymour's and all that money?

The Reverend George Turner Seymour enjoyed building and renovating houses, his family inherited what was left, and it was not much. Image is of another family home.

Before even this there was Belmont estate and Brockley Court. There then was time spent at Farringford House (Isle of Wight), and the Reverend lived in Riversea mansion in Dartmouth after building Warfleet house. He owned several farms as well, and these were disposed of as he required more money.

Thought a face to a name would be nice.

Thank you for the offer, but only do it if you feel there is something you missed, with what you have found, I now have a very solid family tree. More sometimes is less, as I would like to try and match as many pictures to people as I can. Knowing children has helped hugely. The photos are obviously about 1860-1890, so the people described would fall into that era.

For instance I see that Mary Seanor (became Adams) only had the one sister, Ethel (who married William Perry), this should help in the photo department. I believe I have already got the match.

I will put some thought into it and get back to you.

Wow, you have been busy. I have been busy since work ended, on scanning photos I am sure of, they are helping with the ones that I am not.

One album in particular looks very much a Seanor one. Distinctive eyes! Thanks ever so much, it seems this one is not quite done yet.

Ok, have had a very long and extensive look at this good work. My feelings are that William Henry Hunt was an illegitimate son of Elizabeth Hunt jnr. (who was unmarried in 1871, but should be the mother it seems by my maths). William Henry Hunt becomes Harry Adams later on when his mother does marry. What a cool story!! Thanks for finding this all for us.

Still excited to see about the Salvation army Corps, the family bible suggests 250th Corps, Oldham. Any suggestions gladly taken!
