Hi Penny.
Hope your research is going well..
I have found that Jane Page’s parents were Jane King and ? Page ( I’ve put my notes down some where)
You didn’t say if you were related to Jane Page.. But I guess you must be because of the interest. If you are then we are cousins of some sort. When Jane Page married Benjamin she already had a son of
2 years old called George. Up to to the wedding he was called George Page. We don’t know who the
father of George is. It could be that Jane and Ben had a fling and when Ben found out about George they got married, romantic at least. But it could just as well be any man of the time, we just don’t know. Maybe there is a family story some where. Any way, George now became George Page-Baldwin, his descendants carried the Page-Baldwin name until my generation.. So I suppose that the other children of Ben and Jane were ‘proper Baldwins and thus half-brothers and sisters to George. There were 3 George Page-Baldwins. My father, (His Dad being Bertie) my Great-Granddad, Great-great Grandfather and then Great-great-great Grandmother Jane Page-Baldwin.
I do have copies of all the relevant Birth, Marriage and Death certificates that help to pull the jigsaw together. We took our mobile home down to visit ‘Shoreham’ in Kent a village mentioned on a
certificate. We stayed a few days so that I could see and feel the old place and walk the grave yard. There are still ‘King’ names to be seen on shop fronts and in the grave yard. I will let you know anything else I find.. I didn’t call my daughter Page-Baldwin perhaps I should have. When I dig-out my notes Penny I'll let you know where my Grand-folks were born. Talk again Soon Chris K Baldwin
