Europe / Cause of death on Belgium death certificates
« on: Wednesday 10 December 25 10:08 GMT (UK)  »
I note there does not seem to give cause of death on Belgium death certificates, unlike English ones. I have Henri Georges Laurent Marie Libert who died 1942 aged 34 in Nivelles. Nivelles was occupied by Germany at this time, so was wondering if there was any link with his death and the occupation. Is there any way I could find out. Thank you in advance.

I know we’re the marriage took place NIVELLES but not year. The marriage was between Henri George’s Laurent Marie Ghislain Libert (born 1908) and Maria Rachel Anais Philippart (born 1910) Henri Libert died 1942. Taking into account there birth years I’m assuming they married around the 1930s ?

Ps: the only other thing I know they did have a child “Monique” which I assume was born prior Henri’s death.

Thank you for the info links. Agatha seems only to go up until 1920 so don’t think I will find any details of a marriage in 1930s unless I’m reading it wrong.

Am I right in thinking Belgium marriage records come under a 75 yr rule. Would 1930s marriage records be available online ? Thank you

Just found this…which seems to be a death of child for Louis Philippart & Maria Joseph Gobert but finding it difficult to read.

Thanks for other details which are great.

Ps. Looking at the document again it seems to give 2 dates…10 ? 1779 & 11 ? 1779, would that be birth & death. And there seems to be a name Barbara ?

This death certificate relates to Louis Phillipart. It also shows his wife Anne Marie Mathieu. Can I ask does it suggest she was still alive.

Hi Zefiro. Many thanks for translation. Just found another illegitimate son for Florentia…Prosper” Emilius Legrand 13 Oct 1869, Ieper and looks like the same wording in the margin.

Edit….looks like another one Alixia Maria Legrand 7 Aug 1878.
