Essex Lookup Requests / Re: Clacton Lookup for Mary CARRINGTON

Thanks for the reply ninkynoo.

Firstly, I have Gladwell's in my family and always suspected Elizabeth Gladwell could be related - is she linked to the Haughley, Suffolk, Gladwell's?

I didn't know George was involved in the Swing Riots.   :o  Please do send me the information you have about him, I would love to see it.     ;D

Thanks again for replying!

Thanks for the reply paco - Ardleigh is a little outside where I'd expect her to be from, but it remains a possibility.

There is a marriage for a Thomas William WARREN on 24 July 1864 in Stepney, to Ann Jane Hawkins - he is a lighterman, so might be William Warren jnr's father.

Could be worth investigating?

Essex Lookup Requests / Clacton Lookup for Mary CARRINGTON
« on: Saturday 16 July 11 17:16 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

My Gx4 grandmother was Mary Carrington. She was married in Great Clacton on 26 Dec 1826 (to George Watling), and she died on 26 Apr 1839 - but I do not know where she was from.

I have found other Carrington's in Harwich/Ramsey, as well as Great Clacton - but I'm unsure which of these branches she belongs to, if any, as I have had no luck locating her baptism.

I suspect she's from Great Clacton - does anyone have access to these parish records?

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!

Rob

Glad I could be of assistance, Angela!

On an ever-so-slightly off-topic note, do you know when James Wyatt Senr died?

I have found him on the 1911 census, but can't find a record of his death.

PM me if you want to continue this discussion via email and I can send a photo of Robert Wyatt, if you are interested that is!

Rob

For confirmation:

Robert Alfred Wyatt is the son of J J Wyatt snr & Lydia Barnes, who in turn are the children of George Wyatt & Sarah Smith and John Barnes & Lydia Finch.

As far as I know he was onboard the SS Brussels and subsequently died in a POW camp in Germany, in 1918.

Link for more info:

He was my great-great grandfather's (Robert Alfred Wyatt) brother.

Hope this is useful!

Thanks for your reply and confirmation on the date, Jim.

I thought it was an Ambrotype, but thought it can't be because of the date.  I guess they did them later than I thought!
