Staffordshire Lookup Requests / Re: Inquest/Post Mortem - Haynes
« on: Saturday 04 June 11 12:20 BST (UK)  »
Hi Thorneytale, That would be terrific.  Would be interested to see any report on the inquest and death also, if there is a reference to where my grand father is buried.  Will it help if I scan a copy of his death certificate?  I am very grateful.

Thanks
Jayne

Thanks Thorneytale.  I'd really appreciate it if you have the time to look at the Tipton Herald for any information, I currently live/work in South Africa so all investigation is via cetificates & the internet at the moment.
In the interim I will try &contact the Smethwick library as you suggest.

The death certificate gives the following info:
Cause of f=death: Asphxiation suicide by drowning in the canal when not of sound mind (then a p.m. underneath which i presume = post mortem.

Place of death: Basin of Birmingham canal off Eagle Lane, Great Bridge, Tipton.
Address at time of death: No 2 Mount St, Tipton (then has m.d. after?)
Inquest held 18 Feb 1936.

Thanks again

Staffordshire Lookup Requests / Minshall birth/ Haynes death
« on: Sunday 27 March 11 19:25 BST (UK)  »
HAYNES
Trying to find the death record for William Haynes born 1888 Tipton, Staffordshire. Christened 12 Sep 1888 St Martins Tipton. William Haynes married Kathleen Maria Wright 2 Oct 1915. From what I recall my mum telling me (now deceased) William died around 1931 by drowning in a canal, At the time of his death he would have been living at 2 old mount street, Tipton, Staffs.  I have been unable to find a death record for him. On their marriage certificate he is listed as William Edward.

MINSHALL:
Fanny Minshall(mother of William above) married Henry Haynes (Spelt Haines on their marriage certificate) on 15 Jul 1879 at the parish church, West Bromwich. Gives her age as 23 so she was born around 1856 and her father as John Minshall.  Unable to find her birth record. I think her mum was mary stevens but not sure.
Any help is appreciated, I currently work/live in South Africa, certificates ordered so far have not been the correct ones.
Thanks Jayne

Trying to date the attached photos in an attempt to narrow down "who they are" in the family!
The marriage photo - is it possibly circa 1915?
The family group circa 1930?
Appreciate any input.
Thanks

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Re: Decipher sections on birth certificate
« on: Sunday 06 February 11 19:21 GMT (UK)  »
Thanks very much to you all.  I need glasses!!
This is my husband's grandfather, family rumour was that he was left on a doorstep, wondering if this was the case OR he was the illegitimate son of Maria Smith (daughter).
Tati, I will try and rescan, when I enlarge it becomes illegible, will keep trying.

Thanks again

Spidermonkey I think you have found them!!!  My Mum, (Fanny was her grandmother) went to Sunday school at St Martins church.
Does the record that you are viewing give John Minshall's date/place of birth?
Are these church records?

Thank-you
