Devon Lookup Requests / Re: BRIMACOMBE Lookups please
« on: Tuesday 02 June 15 20:38 BST (UK)  »
Thanks, Kath. I don't know if they were on their way to Ireland then or if they'd had to leave Ireland for one reason or another.

It was known to have happened, don't you know"

It was my understanding that Frain comes from Du Fraine (something like that!) which is French, I believe some settled in Devon while the rest carried on to Ireland.

Hi,

I am a direct relative to the Frain family of Putford. I have lots of info if anyone needs help. Mary Bessie Frain was my great Grandmothers sister.

Kind regards

Kath

Kath, how far back do your Frains go, and where? I believe my grandfather Thomas Joseph Frain was born in Mayo in 1877.

Please share whatever you can. Thanks!

Hi, I can't trace any of my Frains to Ireland I'm afraid, my Frains go back early 1600's still in Devon.

Thank you for your help.

All the info I have is her name, Parents names, and surname of husband, within the time period 1935 -1940. I shall contact Groni and hope I have enough info.

Derry (Londonderry) / 1930's marriage record search
« on: Monday 19 March 12 14:36 GMT (UK)  »
I'm looking for a marriage record of my grandmother Mary Josephine Murphy to an O'Donnell any time between 1935 and 1940 in Londonderry. Am i right in assuming as I am unable to travel to Londonderry I would need to contact Groni to perform a search for me? Not sure the best way to find the information so would be grateful if someone can confirm this would be the correct way to go.

Devon / Re: Susanna JENKIN B.c1797 Buckland Brewer
« on: Tuesday 12 July 11 17:00 BST (UK)  »
Hi, yes i have her on the 1841, 1851 and 1861 census as well as her death index record on ancestry, they all put her as being born 1797 +/- 1 year, so i would think it would be unlikely her birth at 1789?

Hopefully the OPC will have further information.

I hadn't thaught she may have been a Widow, will look into that side now, thank you.

Hi,

Have contacted the OPC and am awaiting a reply.

Ive come accross this birth record but dont think it can be the correct Susanna Jenkin as quite sure on my Susanna's birth being very close to 1797 (census returns and her death record on Ancestry).

I have found a date for her and Samuels marrage on the LDS website but there is no further info.

Many thanks

Lancashire / Re: Pubs in Chadderton 1841 - 1867

Hi,

Thank you all for help, some excellent findings.

Sal, that info is really helpful as i know that after James Died (1867), the 1871 census shows his second wife Hannah at the Cow and Calf, so i guess it was possible he ran all the pubs there at some point?

Thanks again

Kath
