The Stay Safe Board / Re: Diary summary week ending 13th April 2025

Good morning all from outback South Australia!
Thankyou Louisa Maud for the pillow hint. I too have had difficulty washing them and they inevitably end up in the dog box.
Days are shortening now, very crisp in the mornings but beautiful afternoons. The next few days are predicted to climb to 30+ though. Quite unusual for April.
I went in for my flu shot this week and the doc decided to jab me for pneumonia in the other arm as well! So 2 sore shoulders for a couple of days.
The sunrise here is brilliant red and tangerine out of my window.
Must get moving soon, but it's so cuddly here in bed.
My daughter's old pony club horse will be waiting for her oldies tucker.
Take care all,
Chris

Hello to all from South Australia.

I watched the BBC early here and saw the awful storm warnings for Ireland, Scotland and England.
Please take care.

Maddy and Debra, thanks for helping me.
I will attack again tomorrow, and search for that other admittance.

She became very unwell I think.

I do like "fleshing out" my rellies.
Bye for now

Hello Wivenhoe,
My Margaret Rebecca Fitzgerald (married in 1870 to John Fitzgerald) died in Nov 1878 so maybe Elizabeth was a relation.
Thanks,
Chris

Hi Debra, where did you see that Margaret Rebecca was born in Bristol?  On the Record of Patients-Adelaide Hospital- it says she was born Yorkshire, no religion mentioned.

Thankyou so much Debra...

And I thought my German ancestors were a problem with names!

Well, this puts a different slant on things!
Very kind of you to persue this for me.
I am in South Australia and  my cousins are in Queensland and New South Wales, so we really are not au fait with chasing different areas up in England.
I will contacr them with your suggestions.
Cheers,
Chris

Thanks Debra!!!
My bad    :o   :-\
Oh well, begin again.
Never mind, as my dad would say.

Margaret Rebecca Daniels is a mystery.
My cousin thought originally that she came from Scotland, but travelled there to trace the family and disproved that.
Yorkshire has not been proven.
Hence my query here.
I thought that the ship was a good clue. More investigation required.
Dearie me.
Chris

Hi Sue,
Thankyou for your help.
I was thinking-dangerous I know!!!

That she arrived Tas in 1856, came to South Australia in 1858, married William Bissett in April 1858. Then John Fitzgerald in Norwood, SA 1870.
Then when she was admitted to hospital in Sept 1878 hospital records said she had been in the colony for 20 years.
This is why I wondered if the "Red Jacket" could have come via Tas?
Could she have been on board if it did?
I need to look into her family more as I don't know if maybe she had a brother called Thomas.. Her Grandfather was Thomas.
Thanks again
Cheers,
Chris

OK Oneday, where to from here?

Is there any info with her passage?
ie family?
Would the Red Jacket have travelled later on via Tassie?
And, would there be a record?
So many questions.
Thankyou.
Chris
