Hi Rosie

I found the Wigglesworth in the census, name misspelt. Luckily the neighbours had a distinctive name so went by them & then looked at some of the other addresses in the street, several had a link to the railway but nothing on Wilfred.

Hi

I have had a quick look & as Rosie17 said he was living at 3, Oakley Street, Thorpe with the Wigglesworth family.

I managed to find them at that address but he was not there but the head had a link to the railway.

It might be that he was working when the census was taken & so he might of been miss off the census.

I would agree with Innocent going by some of the letters I can see.

The Common Room / Underage marriage
« on: Thursday 26 June 25 08:52 BST (UK)  »
Hi

Been doing some research into a branch of my family that came form the Nottingham boarders so have to look at other counties as well.

I came across Mary & Isabell Dennis; Mary Dennis was baptised at Thrumpton 7 Jul 1745 & she married Thomas Bishop with banns at Standford on Soar 2 Feb 1762, (1763), I wasn't sure about the marriage until I noticed Isabell's banns at the same church.

Isabell Dennis was baptised 12 Jul 1755 & married Jammes Ball with banns at Stanford on Soar 27 Jan 1768 (1769). meaning she was only 14.

I cannot be sure of the year of her banns but it looks like it was 1763 (1764) it says according to Act of Parliament & unprohibited by me & signed by the curate.

Was this legal at the time & shouldn't they have been by licence at least.

I would look at the original & like MollyC said also look at the banns.
Also try & see if the had any children, some baptisms can give the mothers maiden name.

Yes his brother was Thomas Edward Wear who is mentioned on the Thiepval Memorial but the curiosity is that his service record has him as being posted to the Mediterranean.

The medal card still said assumed dead which means some departments have his death & others don't. When you look at the medal cards of those like his brother who have no known grave, most of those don't say assumed dead.

His brothers service record throw up another curiosity,
