Hi there,

Can anyone tell me how old a person had to be in the 1850's to be eligible to vote, and be placed on the electoral register.

Regards

Does anyone know when the houses opposite Westacre School, Finchfield, Wolverhampton were built.  specifically number 40 Finchfield Hill.  Also when were Rogers's shop and the cottages (where the Nationwide building society is now)  demolished.

Regards

It seems to be the general opinion that they just didn't bother to register to vote, sounds like my family!  But i did expect to find my Grandfather on there.

Many thanks for all your replies its much appreciated

Hello there,
My grandfather Hugh Thomas Cartwright (always known as Tom Cartwright) born 5.6.1900 was a member of the Buffs, I think it may have been Compton or Bradmore Lodge Wolverhampton, but I do not know where they met.  Have you any info on this.  Would be appreciated and many thanks for looking.

The Common Room / Electoral Registers

Can anyone help with this query?
I have ancestors on the 1911 census living at 2 Finchfield Road, Wolverhampton, they were still living there in 1929 when they died as their abode is stated as 2 Finchfield Road on death certificate, but they are not listed on the electoral register in 1926, neither is their grandson who had married and I know he was living in Finchfield at the time. I have checked the registers for 1926, 1930 & 1934.

Any info would be appreciated.

Many thanks in advance

Hi Glenn11,

I want to know if the houses in Chequer Street had anything to do with Chequerfield House, as I had an ancestor living in Chequer Street who was a gardener, they previously lived in Rookery Lane which is just a stones throw away, and wondered if maybe he worked at Chequerfield House?

Good luck with your day at the archives.
Regards & Thanks
