Isobel - What information is contained in an 'index'?  Since you have
Canonbie for 1786-1805  - could you see if you can find any further info on
Andrew Irving who died Feb 25 1791. He was son of Robert Irving
of Hawkshall.  Andrew died at 32 and was a captain of a ship in Lagos,
Africa.   The ship was the 'Orange Grove'.  His name is the top listing on
the grave stone at Canonbie Parish Church.  I've no idea how to locate
the specific location of the grave stone but I'm going to the UK next
month and plan to search for it.
Thanks,
Kathy

Hi - I'm looking for information for my family tree
regarding John & Margaret Irving, who were listed
in the 1851 census as belonging to Canonbie
parish.

I'm missing the year they were married and
a complete listing of their children.  What I do have is..

John Irving   m.      Margaret Armstrong
b.  1771                 b.  1769
d.  1858                 d.  1851

Their children:

Thomas b. 1795?
Andrew b. 1797
Robert  b. 1799?
George b. 1801
William b. 1803?
Margaret b.  1805?
Janet   b. 1816?
There was mention of a Barbara or Martha
but they may have been in-laws.

Do you know how I would find out where
John & Margaret are buried?

Thanks for your help,
Kathy
