Thank you so much for the info on Jonathan Edwards. You were correct with the Poulton cum Spital area. We have been searching for him for a long time. Now we find he had at least 5 older brothers! The Jonathan Edwards from Wirral registered in BMD is not correct one - I have that birth certificate available if anyone wants it.

Your help with this was much appreciated.
Kind regards
 :)

Hi Cheshire Researchers

Today, I was given the following CD:

Cheshire Parish Records by S & N Genealogy Supplies

The CD allows you to browse, search and print Marriage Registers for all 5 volumes of W.P.W Phillimores Cheshire Parish Record Transcripts.

The dates covered are 17th and 18th Century

If you require me to look through these records for an ancestor of yours, please supply as much information as possible; and I will try to oblige

I am trying to find my great grandfather’s birth record which according to census information was around 1840 in Spital, Cheshire. However, despite searching the BMD sites (and visiting the FRO in London) there is no registration of his birth at that time (or any time around that date). My next search is to look in the Parish Records for that area. I have been to the SoG in London but they do not have the information I require – only indexes are available.

His name was Jonathan Edwards (father was Joseph according to his marriage certificate), mother unknown. 1871, 1881 show birth place as Spital/Spittle, Cheshire and 1891 Porton, Cheshire.
Any help would be much appreciated.
