Roscommon / Re: McGarry from Roscommon - where should I look next please ?

I've been researching the Colemans in Boyle and they are connected with the McGarrys. There were a lot of McGarrys around Boyle in the 1800s, particularly in the townland of Garrow. You'll get a sense of that if you look at the 1901 Census on www.leitrim-roscommon.com

You may find some of the people you're looking for on www.familysearch.org as most of the Boyle parish records (Catholic) have been transcribed there.

I do know that a Roger McGarry married a Brigid Coleman in Boyle on 24th April 1839.

Hope this is of some help.

Hi! I've been researching the Colemans in Boyle for some time. I found a record on www.familysearch.org for John Coleman marrying Catherine Oates in Boyle on 27th February 1840. Catherine was christened in Boyle on 2nd November 1820 and her parents were Dominick Oates and Catherine Feeny.

John and Catherine had at least seven children: Mary (1840), Honoria (1842), Anne (1845), Brigid (1847), Belinda or Bessie (1848), Michael (1853), Catherine (1855). I got most of these on familysearch and one or two from information sent by other people over the web.

My Colemans were from Boyle and this John may well be a relation. If you have any more information about him, please let me know.

Roscommon / Robert Coleman, Boyle, Co. Roscommon

My great great grandfather, Robert Coleman, signed a lease with Lord Lorton in 1803 for a few acres of land in Tawnytaskin, outside Boyle. He married a Catherine Dyer around 1816 but I haven't been able to find their marriage record. I'm wondering if anyone out there would know anything about him, or if they can identify any of his siblings. I'm fairly sure he was related to a Luke Coleman who was living just across Lough Key in the townland of Erris at that time, but I don't know how they were related. i think Robert may have grown up in Erris.
