Thanks for the info,
Ive since established  that I might have the wrong John Flanagan. His Father was Thomas but he was a farm labourer I found this on Johns marrage certificate. John is listed as coming from Dublin on 1911 census. I also know that he had older brothers at least 2 who were sent to australia.
Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Derek,
Thanks for replying so promptly.
Jane Willoughby (Leary) died in 1897 I think in child birth. Her  last known address on the 1891 census was 3 Millers or (Millars) Place Birkenhead. I believe Thomas did remarry to Margaret O'Neil in 1882 but this conflicts with the 1891 census maybe the date is wrong.
In 1901 the census shows Thomas, Margaret and three of the childrenon the 1891 census ( Elizabeth, Thomas & William) James is the youngest aged 7. Their address was 2 Arthur Street Birkenhead. Thomas is listed as a Bricklayer on both census and ages of children also tie up so I am assuming its the same family.
Iwill have to do some more digging on this.
I have found alot of info on the Cheshire BMD index which is free to search.
Kind Regards
Rob

Can anyone help with information regarding my great grandfather. His name was John Flanagan born 1836/37.The 1861 census sayes he was born in Drogheda . His farthers name was Thomas Flanagan who we think was a teacher or college lecturer. John had two or more brothers who were sent to austrailia but John came to Bolton England in approx 1857 aged 21. Any info on the Irish side would be great.

Hi Roger or Derek,
I have only recently started researching my grandmothers family tree. Her name was Jane Willoughby born 1883, daughter of Thomas Willoughby born 1858 who was the son of John Willoughby born 1828 who came to Birkenhead Wirral. Johns farther was the John Willoughby who married Charlott Cockbill,he would be my great, great great grandfather.
If I can help with any info at this end please let me know.
Regards
Rob Flanagan
