Thankyou all so much for the very helpful replies, I'm grateful.
Just for the minute I have to put my attention elsewhere, but hopefully I can get my head round the family tree soon enough.
Just to answer Chempat's question i think they were born in Bangor, North Wales.
Thanks again I do appreciate the answers

My great grandmother was one of fifteen children. All died in childhood except two.
So far I've only found a 1901 census return, listing just my great grandmother, her parents and an address.
It might not be possible, but I was wondering if it could be possible for me to go to the local register office to find all births and deaths of children registered by the parents? I don't know any of the children's names.
I want to know the causes of death.
Or is there another way to find out?
Thanks
Sarah

Hi Jo,

thankyou very much. I registered with scotlands people back in 2001, and got a lot off there, then left it at that - George Bath, not realising that a death cert would give parents names. 8 yrs later i'm picking up the trail again, so thankyou for going to the trouble, and for the tip and also for the credits. I really do appreciate it.  (Some days ie today, when youve come up against silly people all day, a random act of kindness can restore your faith.) I remember now how quick those credits go down. I know it sounds daft (me being an amatuer) but if could help in any way with your tree i would like to. Youve probably already heard of the free cerdits you can get (10 i think) if you sign up with ancestral scotland's newsletter, but here is the link anyway.  http://www.ancestralscotland.com/newsletter/  Hope you find your image.
 And thanks again,
Sarah.

Hi David,

So it could also be Nimlet. I found the reference on the 1881 census as Namlet.  Then as Namlett on an 1855 birth certificate of his son. On 1861 census it says Nomlet. I have also seen another original document, but frustratingly i just can't recall it at the moment, where it looks like Lembett or something. Thanks for the the Nimlet reference, I never would have found that.

Thanks,
Sarah

Sorry for the delay. Thanks so much both. I wouldn't have known to look on the death cert. And Jokdy that's really, really good of you.  I went to Scotlandspeople website today, and thought that i'd found him, clicked to look at the document as i had enough credits. It took 11 credits off but wouldn't let me view the image.  (Underneath the column headed 'image', it says view paid, but nothing happens.) I think i will email them. I'm hoping you haven't spent credits on there looking for my ancestor? if so i would i would like to reimburse your money spent. You mentioned there was a copy floating in cyber space, wink, and i think i have found it! thanks for the tip. (i am making a note to myself, ancestry.co.uk.) So his mother and father were another George Bath, and an Ann Stevens. He died on December 24th, what a day.
Thanks for you help.

Sarah

Hi,

don't go to any trouble but I'm looking for a marriage between George Bath (born Namlet? Somerset) and Ann Jones in Calder Bank in 1854 as i'd like to know who his parents were.

Thanks both very much, that's very useful. I'm thinking possibly Lamyatt from the list.  But could also be Nempnett Thrubwell -
'This place.. has been variously written as Nimet, Nempnett, Nemlet http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/3379/nempnett_thrubwell.html
And from Wikipedia - The name Nempnett Thrubwell is believed to mean 'The grove at the village well' from the Celtic nemett and the Old English wiell.'

Need to do a bit more digging.
Thanks again
Sarah

I have a g.g.g. grandfather, surname Bath, from a place that looks like Namlet(?) Somersetshire. Just wondered if anyone knows where that was.

Thanks

Sarah
