Hi Kimary,

Yes, it would appear that we have a connection to Maryanne Murphy, however she is my great grandmother (not great great) as I am the grandaughter of Mary Alice  Murphy the 5th child of John & Maryanne Murphy.
Not Too sure if you have the names of all the children of Maryanne & John so just in case you don't they are: John, Ellen, Arthur, Margaret (Maggie), Mary (my grandmother). Maurice, Henry, Louisa & Kathleen. As you can imagine over a period of time families lose contact with each other and I don't have a lot of info on most of them so it is great to make contact with you. Do you have any details of other branches of the Murphy family or only your own.? Look forward to further contact with you. Murphy Girl.

Hi Kimary,
According to our family research Henry Blaney Murphy who died at Gallipoli was born in 1890. He is the son of Henry Patrick Blaney Murphy born at Port Fairy (Victoria)  in 1858 who is the brother of my great grandmother Maryanne Murphy born in Portland. England in 1853 so most of our research is based around her. Was wondering what line of MBM are you descended from ?

Kind regards,
Murphy Girl.

Hi Merlin,

Thanks for the info re David King's children and I realised after posting the first request that I had made an error with the date so I placed another post on the board so hopefully if anyone else reads my enquiry they will have the right date.

It is strange that the name "Eugene" has never been mentioned in relation to my grandfather but I guess things get "changed" as time goes on. I can vaguely recall family members mentioning a Ruby but the story went that she was a "half sister" not a full one so that is a new piece of info.
I will keep looking to see if I can find out any more about David & Amy King, would you know from your availablity to records exactly where they were married in Hobart?

Thanks once again,

Kind regards,
Murphy Girl.

Sorry, have just posted a request and realised I have put the incorrect date in relation to the marriage of David King & Amy Peters. The correct date should be 1891.
Hope I have not caused anyone any bother by my slip of the finger whilst typing.

Regards,
Murphy Girl.

Hello,

I am just starting to trace my grandfather's (Ernest Edward or Edward Ernest King) family and I know his parents were married in Hobart in 1891. There names were David King & Amy Peters but this is all I know so I was wondering if anyone would be able to assist me in finding out more about them.
I have no idea when or where they died and more importantly their origins in Tasmania.
Any details that can be supplied would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,
Murphy Girl.

Hi David,

Thanks for the offer of more info but we have been able to locate some details of the voyage/arrival from articles in the Argus via a website called TROVE which has a lot of the old Australian Newspapers on it, actually if you have never looked at it it is a fascinating site.
As a matter of fact we have gleaned a lot about our family since they arrived in Australia from items in the newspaper.

By all means if you want to post what you have please do so, will leave that decision up to you as if you have a lot it may take you some time.

Shame about your Browns not being related, it was a long shot but worth asking the question anyway. Good luck with your continued searching.

Kind regards,
Murphy Girl.

Hi,

Thanks for the info re the "Lillies" and as far as I know Seaweed does not have a photo of same as he did not indicate that he did, have you tried contacting him to find out ?.  I would be interested in his reply.

The details you advised re her construction all add to the story of my family who emigrated on the 1857 voyage.

Just as an aside, my great great grandmother who sailed on that voyage had the maiden name of BROWN, do you have any Brown's in your family that came from Newcastle in Ireland? Her father's name was Patrick Brown and he was a weaver.

Kind regards,
Murphy Girl.

Hi Janet666,

Thanks for the info re the shipping lists, we have located the family's arrival in Australia in 1857 on same but it does not mention anything about where they lived prior to "setting sail" and this is what I am trying to find out.

Kind Regards,
Murphy girl.
