I am trying to research the McEniffs from County Monaghan. My great grandfather arrived in NY around 1872 supposedly from Cty Monaghan. He had married Margaret or Margarette Connelly in Monahan and arrived with three of four children...Catherine, Mary, Michael and John. I believe Francis had died. (possibly in Ireland or on the boat). They later had a child Patrick. The Michael that arrived around 1872 is my grandfather. He was around 5 years old upon arrival.
Since the McEniff name was not common at the time, it is quite possible that my gg John is related to your Michael. These names tend to run in families.
