The Common Room / BERMUDA PRISION HOSPITAL
« on: Friday 05 March 21 11:45 GMT (UK)  »
I have recently got a copy of my great great great grandfathers discharge papers from his service with the Royal Sappers & Miners. It reads that he was sentenced twice within a couple of years (1843) for bad conduct. I cannot read the handwriting but it states that he ' violated the rules of the (??????) hospital, where he was a prisoner. Can anybody enlighten me as to the name of the hospital / prison.
just so I can complete the transcript, or if you are brilliant at reading handwriting from these documents, I have attached a copy of the script. thanks

Lincolnshire / Re: The 'Globe Works', Lincoln

After months of research I have tonight found our great grand father. He was a boarder at the Chaplin Arms, Canwick rd. His trade was  a fitter, I am putting 2 + 2 and guessing he was at the Globe Works. 1891.
I found a photo of the public house, I dont know how old the pic is? Do you have any info' that will keep me in the right direction. Do You know if there would there be a list of employee's from the globe works at that time?

What was the Chaplin Arms (where my grandad used to go for his daily game of crib) used to stand in the shadow of one of the railway bridges.  Now it just stands forlorn :(

As well as the Robeys workshop which can be seen, there was another of which only part of the outer wall remains.  http://tinyurl.com/2vcevf9

Move along Canwick Road to the north and more Robey buildings come into view.

I have this morning had confirmation after along search, that my Great Grand Father died in Lancaster Lunatic Asylum! He died from  general paralysis on the insane'; which I am aware is the condition of untreated syphilis.
As sad as it is .. I would like to know more about the Asylum and possibly his records, can any body point me in the right direction please.
