Hi Valda

What happened to Amelia Long that married Henry Elliott in 1882, that Isobel found?

I will digest the info and come back to with any questions.

Thanks again

James

Hi Dawn

On the marriage cert of Joseph Elliot (23) & Edith Baldock (21) dated 13/2/1910, the father was Joseph Elliot, in freeBMD on Ancestry it has three of there children as Elliott and four as Elliot. So it could be either way.

I like the 1891 census that Isobel has found, but where do the two Appleton Step Daughters fit in if Amelia was a Long and not a Appleton, unless it's her second marriage?

One T or two, they don't make it easy. Must upgrade my Ancestry membership so that I can see the London Parish records?

Thanks for your help

James

Hi James

Thanks for your reply

I have been looking for William for a number of years. I have searched the 1881 & 1891 census and the WW1 army records on Ancestry (page at a time) for a match. I have also searched the family trees on Ancestry & Genes Reunited. My next move will be to upgrade my Ancestry membership to access London Parish Record. I have thought about birth Cert. but would need to apply for most of them.

The info I have is:-
1901 census he was 21 from St Luke, London
1911 census he was 32 from Whitechapel, London
12/11/1899 was 22 married Agnes Starling living in Whitechapel, his father was George Dennis, both witnesses were Starlings

To add more confusion family folk law says he came from Tipperary, Ireland. I have also looked at all I can find on the internet for Ireland with no luck.

The nearest match I can get is in the 1891 census a George Dennis with a son William Sweetman with the correct age and birth location, George married a Martha Sweetman in 1886, so he may have taken the Dennis name?

I will keep on looking.

Thanks Again

James

Hi Ady

No medals, and just two census entries (1901 & 1911) and a marriage cert. is all I have, along with this picture.

I was hoping that his army record would give me more info like a DOB or confirm a place of birth.

How would I find local papers, he lived in Wapping, London?

Thanks

James

Yes I have searched the medal index cards, but there are 8 William Dennis's in the Devon's and not much detail on the cards to allow me to determine if it's the correct person.

Any other suggestions on how to track him down would be appreciated.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply
