Derry (Londonderry) / Thomas McGuigan & Elizabeth McAllister Marriage
« on: Thursday 21 April 11 22:06 BST (UK)  »
Trying to find record of the marriage of Thomas McGuigan and Elizabeth McAllister (or McAlister) circa 1930's. This would have been an RC marriage most likely in Kilrea but possibility of Ballymoney also. I cannot find reference for this anywhere - Anyone any information?

Derry (Londonderry) / Michael Fisher
« on: Thursday 14 April 11 17:06 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to get an exact date and place of death for my gt.grandfather Michael Fisher. Born 23rd June 1873 Derry, married Catherine (Cassie) Canning 31st Decmenber 1899 Longtower, Derry. Family story goes that he died in 1919 but I have been unable to find any record.
He was a sewing machine mechanic by trade and travelled a lot because of this so he could have died anywhere.
1901 census shows he and cassie living in Londonderry but by 1911 they are in Antrim with their 2 children.
His wife Catherine and 2 children all lived, died and are buried in Coleraine but so far no sign of Michael!
Any help or info would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I was wandering if anyone had a picture of McCotters bike shop in Kilrea? Any picture would do but a picture c.1950 would be perfect.

Yes they probably did marry pre1864 as the first child was born 1856.

Antrim / DILLON, McGUCKIAN Garryduff Co. Antrim

Cannot find marriage or death reocrds for the following 2 people:

John Dillon b.1829 Co. Antrim, Farmer, Garryduff, Co. Antrim - but I cannot find marriage or death info. I know he died after the 1911 census of Ireland and he married after the 1851 census of Antrim. He married an Ann McGuckian who I can't find any reference to either other than she died prior to the 1911 census.
Anybody able to help?

Donegal / Re: False info on illegitimate birth cert?
« on: Monday 08 March 10 21:37 GMT (UK)  »
All other information on the certificate rings true ie dates, location, surname etc. It just seems to be the mothers forename - the mother was 'sent' to America to live with her grandfather when the baby was 5 months old - i know this is true as I have Ellis island records and US census records to prove this and she never returned :'(. The child was then raised by the grandmother (my great grandmother) - elderly living relatives tell me it brought great shame etc which makes me wonder is that the reason behind the false name.
