Hello John, I read this post with interest because I am looking for a connection between the Palmer family and the Sharp family in and around Maryport. My GG grandfather John Sharp married Mary Russell  and we suddenly started to see lots of people with first or middle names of Palmer in both the Sharps and the Russells but I have not yet been able to figure out why. Can you identify any connections from your research? Cheers in advance John sharp

I have just got the 1845 registery entry for my relative Thomas Baylis and on the same page are 3 other Maryport men;-

William SHARP born 1820, Joseph CONOCRIE (I think) born 1818 and Robert KERR born 1814 in Berwick. They all resided in Maryport in 1845.

If anyone wants more info please let me know. Humphpaul

I'd be very interested in any further information on William Sharp.

Many thanks
John Sharp

That is great thanks! I'm enjoying this and I 've got back to the late 1700s with most of my lines now - it gets harder from here!

There are some indexes of shipping illustrations for Maryport and area - do you know if there are local records - shipping registration, masters' information etc - I guess the local archives might have things like that?

Thanks
John

How about Jones?  George Sharp + Fanny = Q4 1877 in Cockermouth registration district that covers Maryport. Courtesy of freebmd.org.uk

That looks just about right - thanks very much!

Thanks Audrey - I can't find a link into that one ... yet!

Any offers on the maiden name of Fanny B (1857)  that married George Sharp (1852)

Thanks!

That sounds very likely! Thanks - I'll keep digging - do you have a SHarp connection?

Hi all - I have a great great grandfather from Maryport - John Sharp (1817) who married Mary F Russell and is named in the 1851 and 1861 census, but I can't find anything else out about him. Any offers Maryporters?

Thanks in advance
