Thanks for replies.
However my apologies!
Looking again on Genuki the period I need is actually contained in VOLUME 13.. Sorry.

The Topcliffe entry is not part of my family.

Many thanks

Hello

I recently bought a copy of the Will of Bilton Metcalfe (my Great x 8 Grandfather) of Leeds dated 1708. It is a comprehensive Will and names his wife and children. One child who I had previously not been aware of was a John Metcalfe.

I have found a John Metcalfe of Leeds apprenticed for 7 years in 1710 to a Joseph Thurlstone, Clothdrawer. What is probably the same John took on an Apprentice himself in 1718, John a Clothworker of Leeds.

From the date of his Apprenticeship I think John was probably born in the period 1695 to 1697, this would fill a gap of other children baptised to Bilton Metcalfe.

It appears that the registers for this period are not available online but there is an indexed transcript, Thoresby Society Volume 10 available that covers this period.

I wonder if anybody might have access to this transcript and if so please look if there is a baptism of a John Metcalfe in this period.

Many thanks for your help.

Hello

I was very pleased yesterday that an Administration document was transplanted for me and now wonder if the attached two documents written in old English script, and have been troubling me for some while, can be translated.

They are indictments for Benjamin Ickorngill of Keighley, West Riding of Yorkshire.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Many thanks.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Seth Dickinson, Administration document
« on: Monday 19 August 24 15:22 BST (UK)  »
Hello

Can anybody please help with a translation of the attached Administration regarding Seth Dickinson of Wakefield.

From what I can gather Administration was granted to his wife, Jane. The document is dated 16th March 1727/28, Seth was buried in Wakefield 5th February 1726/27.

There is the name Thomas Scott also on the document (and the next document) who was the the Vicar of Wakefield at that time but not sure why he appears on it.

Many thanks.

Thank you all again for all your hard work.

Don't know why I originally put "Mary" Levitt when I know very well it is "Emily" Levitt, I have the marriage certificate, must be a tryping error!

Thank you all for all your replies, with a big thank you to Sandra and Amondg.

I will work my way through them but it certainly appears that William Atkinson who married in 1921 is "my" William James Atkinson.

The clincher is Sydney Atkinson sailing to Quebec in 1925 to visit his brother, William. Father, James Atkinson address of 12 South Crescent, Sowerby, Thirsk matches the address I already have of him.

Thank you all, another one off my tree successfully "hatched, matched and despatched" :)

Canada Lookup Request / William James Atkinson born England 1885

Hello.

Does anybody have access to the marriage details 28th Sep 1921, Winnipeg, Manitoba between William James Atkinson and Martha Kathleen Johnson?

In particular I am interested in date and place of birth for William and his fathers name and place of birth.

I am hoping to connect this William with William James Atkinson the son of James Atkinson and Mary Levitt. William Jame's birth was registered Jul/Aug/Sep quarter of 1885 in Tadcaster, Yorkshire, England.

I believe this William died in 1973 with Obituary in the Calgary, Alberta newspapers.

Many thanks.
