An interesting item but not linked to my Coleman family, they came from Arlington in Sussex

I am a collector of British Royal Commemorative beakers and I have one from 1897 (Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee) which has the following dedication on the reverse: "The Coleman Tribute Brede Jubilee 1897".

I was wondering if either of you were aware of who might have sponsored the dedication of this beaker or knew anything about the family involvement in any celebrations at that time.

With best wishes,

Michael.

Thanks again :) I'm sure there is a connection I just have to work out how it all fits together!
This is all in a relatively small area of Sussex (I still live there).
Horace b.1832 and Lavinia (born in a village called Dallington which is almost next to your Brede) named their eldest son William b.1858. I will see where he was in 1881, he had left home. He is my gr grandfathers brother.

Hi gidget,
Many thanks for your reply.
Arlington is about five miles north of Eastbourne in East Sussex. My Horace was born in 1832 and was listed on the census in 1881 as a farm labourer in Hellingly. In 1871 he was living in Hailsham but with no occupation listed. Both of these villages are in the same area of East Sussex as Arlington. Which Brede did your family come from? There are quite a few villages in East Sussex called Brede!

Hi Gidget37
I am new to all this and the information available seems amazing.
I have been researching my gr grandfather Horace Coleman born in Arlington in 1832. He was married to Lavinia (b1836 Dallington). I think that they had 11 children,William, Charles, Ebeznr, Mary, Horace A later listed as Alfred,Albert, George, David (my grandfather) Annie and Louie. I was wondering if there was a link with the work that you have been doing? I would be greatful for any tips. Annsec
