Lincolnshire / Boston, Lincs WW1
« on: Monday 13 June 16 18:58 BST (UK)  »
Good evening all,

If anyone has got any stories supported by photographs during WW1 for a book about the area would be appreciated.
There is a wide remit so anything from the war at home, land, sea or air would be fantastic. Non-combatant stories are more than welcome.
Look forward to your replies.

The Common Room / Boston Lincs 1914 - 18
« on: Friday 03 June 16 21:54 BST (UK)  »
Hello all,

I am writing a book (details below) on the history of Boston Lincs in the first world war. I would love to hear from anyone with any old photographs, story's from the war, preferably with photographs.
It would be great to include real people with real actual events. A lasting memorial before these things are forgotten.
I also am a member of Ancestry so if you know of anyone on there who would like to help I would be appreciate it.
Regards
Mark

First of all thanks to everyone who replied with tips what to look for.
Part of the book I am writing will focus on the internment of the sailors in Germany. One trawler, Skirbeck - BN81 (photo attached) was 22.08.1914 Sunk by Cruiser gunfire in North Sea, crew taken as prisoners.
The crew are listed below. The skipper, J.T Baker died in the prison camp. The challenge would be finding as much information as J. T Baker as I can. I would appreciate any help.
Thank you all again
Mark
PS - I found the his card on the IRC website, needs translating lol

Hi all,

I would love to hear from anyone or who knows anyone who may have any accounts of the Boston fisherman who where killed or interned during World War One.
Also, I would appreciate any census information on Boston's fisherman from 1911.
Many thanks

Hi,

 Hi everyone!

I have been successful in tracing British personal from World War 1 however my father-in-law has presented me with a challenge and I have no idea where to start so I hope you can help.

My father-in-law was born during World War 2 and was adopted by a lovely couple from Surrey. His biological father was a U.S serviceman, I assume stationed in the UK.

All he knows of his father is his name, Joseph Patrick Vaglica and he is sure he was from Ohio state. I have serached Ancestry and I have only access for the UK and that's presented some possibilities however I have not got international access.

Anyhelp would be greatful, even if you can point me to the best website to view.

 Many thanks in advance

 Mark
