:)  thanks cath it looks as if you've hit the nail on the head with this info Kate was my dads mum so if Kate was my gran then h. elphick was my dads grandad not his uncle as i was led to believe!! sorry  I've got it wrong i see it now h. elphick is h.eliphick son so dad was right it was his uncle my fault

H.elphick  Sussex  regiment army no 3671. 1897 /1898  this is on his india medal is any one else looking for information he was my farthers uncle he had a sister named polly

:) have just seen your picture and note i live at bedworth my wife's name is olive George's daughter  Georges other daughters Emily and Joyce still live at bedworth also i will let them have a look at the picture perhaps we may be able to get intouch somehow we know some of them will get back to you

 :) only photos i found are in the library in the echo i know the name carvell
 i lived up the road at 47 coalpitt fields but that has gone now my wife's family used to live in one of the houses by the pub his name was George priddy he worked on the boats
