I am hoping that someone can help me in researching my grandfathers exploits in WW1 I know that he was in the Northumberland Fusiliers regiment number 65708. The story that I have goes like this. He was taken involved in an explosion and was taken prisoner by the Germans during the battle of the Somme. and was unconscious for several days. They operated on him and when he regained conscious he found him self in a Pow of foreign prisoners. They apparently took great delight in hiding his true identity from the Germans, but was eventually discovered and removed from this prison. He eventually made a full recovery and went on to live well into his eighty.

Well that is all we have as usual he never discussed this war and we only managed to obtain this information over several decades.
