Hampshire & Isle of Wight / Kings of Burton
« on: Tuesday 13 September 16 19:16 BST (UK)  »
A family of Kings farmed in the Burton, Christchurch area from at least the 18th century until the beginning of the 20th century. Brothers Thomas b1774 and James b1776 had a father Stephen. I would like help with more details of the father and mother. I cannot find a Stephen from the Burton area. This family attended the Independent Church in Christchurch. I have found a Stephen b1752 who was christened in the Independent Church in Gosport whose parents were Thomas and Mary King. Stephen might have died in Ringwood in 1812. Any help in this matter would be appreciated. I am afraid I am some 200 miles from Burton.

Thanks for your interest. It was my first forage into that Census. Perhaps someone will come up with some useful information eventually. Patrick Donohoes seem to be everywhere - I just need to find the right one! Have a good day.

Galway / Blake grandson - 1821 Census Kilreekil Galway
« on: Tuesday 15 March 16 19:04 GMT (UK)  »
The 1821 Census shows Stephen and Judith Blake and their family. A grandson is listed, Patrick Donohoe age 7. Has anyone any information on this family? I am interested in Patrick. Who were his parents? His parents could be away at the time of the census of maybe he is the base born son of Mary Blake.

Thanks 8clopton for your input. I am sorry that I have only just seen this. I was told that Mary Gleeson could be PD's spouse some years ago by a poster in Australia but I have never been able to confirm. Galway and Limerick are possible places that a mercantile clerk might operate from. Maybe Mary was from Nenagh. I would be pleased to hear of any other information you might have on this line.

Thanks for your reply. Patrick had a son who was born in Nenagh in 1840. On his son's marriage certificate [1872] his father is shown as deceased and a mercantile clerk. Limerick looks a likely place for a mercantile clerk....! The dates are as stated "about" - clutching at straws I know but all other avenues have been negative. Oh the family were RC.
Happy Christmas.
