Hi Millie
Thomas Emery was my G-G grandfather. He did marry Johanna Gorman .One of their daughters, another Johanna, married a William James Tait whom I believe was the son of the John Tate(original spelling) transported to Australia  on the "Eden" in 1848 for stealing woollen cloth in 1847 and his wife Catherine Mahony an Irish Famine orphan sent to Australia aged only 15 in 1849.The daughter of William James Tait  and Johanna Emery was my grandmother Veronica Tait (1900-1979).According my research Thomas was sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania ) and was pardoned in 1852-53. In the 1847 Tasmanian Convict Muster he is said to be working at a Mr. Mansfield's at Glenorchy which is now a suburb of Hobart. I would bw interested in any information on Thomas' English family.
Regards Paul
