Hi Debbie,

We had some help from Gerald and we have actually found two headstones naming William George Earle. On the far side of the Cemetary is the one listed on the War Graves listings and at the front of the cemetary is the family one where he is named along with his wife Ada and his father-in-law, Booth Kay.

My Mum and I have been to visit and i have pictures if you need them. Send me a PM and I can forward them on for you!

Kind regards
Vikki

Hi Liz, Carol, Gadget, Kaz, Evie and Ruskie,

It makes sense now as we did originally think Mary was called Smith,
so thank you all very much for taking the time to have a look for me!

Many thanks

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Birth Certificate 1880
« on: Friday 30 April 10 08:09 BST (UK)  »
Good Morning All,

I wonder if anyone can make out two words on a birth certificate we have for Mary Earrel.  (Later changed to Earle) We are having problems with the third and forth words in the section 'Name, surname and maiden surname of Mother'
We know that Mary's mother was another Mary and her maiden name was Craig - but these middle two words have me stumped and I bet it's really easy!

Many thanks

Hi Kerry,

It would be nice to get some dates for them, for some reason I feel that tidys things up. I know my Gran and Grandad got married in 1930 at the Bon Accord Hotel in Aberdeen, but not the exact date. No one can remember David Donalds birthday or even when he died - I have been told it was was 1970, 1971 and 1974 and by that time he was living here in Manchester. It can't be 1974 s I was born 1973 and my Mum tell me he had died before that. And my Gran was actually born in Canada - i seem to remember her birthday as 17th November, but until I can find one of my Dad's older brothers or sisters who can remeber this stuff I feel as though I'm at a blocked road.  Do you think Census records would be of any use? and where would I find the scottish ones?

Thankyou

Aberdeenshire / Campbell Family
« on: Thursday 29 April 10 09:37 BST (UK)  »

I was wondering if anyone could possibly give me any advice on how to proceed in trying to find any information on my Dad's side of the family.
I am relatively new to this and am afraid to say I really don't know where to start.
I have some information from one of my Dad's brothers and it shows his Mother and Father, then his Mother and Father and then his Mother and Father right back to 1799, the thing is they seemed to move around a fair bit!
My Grandad was David Donald Campbell, Born 1906 in Renfrew - married Ruth Davey
His father was Donald Campbell, Born 1878 in Callander - married Margaret Linsey
His father was Duncan Campbell, Born 1856 in Aberdeen - married Fiona Fiddis
His Father was also Duncan Campbell, Born 1824 in Kintyre - married Moira Hendry
and finally his father was Andrew Campbell, Born 1799 in Perth - married Janet McGregor

I am trying to see if one of my cousins has any further info - but where would I be best to start - births, marriages or deaths?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Northumberland Lookup Requests / Re: Birth & Death Record, Arkle, James

Hi Lizdb,

Thanks for that.
I have already ordered my Grandad's death certificate from this website - I need that so I can get his Army Service History, which should be interesting!
As for James Arkle - there is definately something with this - I've just got this feeling about his cause of death is something strange.

Oh well - best crack on!

Thank you again

Northumberland Lookup Requests / Birth & Death Record, Arkle, James
« on: Thursday 15 April 10 07:36 BST (UK)  »
Hi All,

I was just wondering if anyone could help with locating the exact date of birth and the cause of death for James Arkle - Born 1st Qrt 1868 (Morpeth 10b, 309) and died June Qrt 1892, Aged 25. (Alnwick 10b, 241)
He died just before his daughter died and I have this feeling that something tragic happened here.
Also does anyone know a website that has the local papers of the time on-line as I can't get up to northumberland.

Thank you and kind regards
Vikkic
