Buckinghamshire Lookup Requests / Burial/death record James and Ann Rice Waddesdon
« on: Tuesday 02 March 10 06:17 GMT (UK)  »
Can someone help me locate burial/death record for James Rice born 1801 Waddesdon. He is in 1841 census at Waddesdon with his 3 sons but not his wife Ann. He is not in 1851 census. I presume he died between 1841 and 1851 census. I cannot find a suitable death entry in FreeBMD
His mother Elizabeth Rice died and was buried at Weston Turville in 1842
I think Ann bn 1805 had died by 1841 census. Her last born child was John was christened at Waddesdon on 22 Feb 1829
I have checked the parish register for Waddesdon for both people but they are not listed there.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to locate these records?

Hi Carol
Thank you for your help. I can exclude Dunham which is good. I think her burial will be at East Drayton then. My ancestor was her daughter also Mary. We have Mary the daughter christening record from the IGI as 6 Apr 1829 at East Drayton. Unfourtunately that record does not appear as a batch number consistent with a parish record and so I am not sure of the validity of that. I wonder if you can check that also when you are there. The IGI has a listing for a son Frank chr there on 4 Aug 1832. He does not appear in the 1841 census so I think if this entry is correct he must have died by 1841. Mary Hempstock does not appear in Free BMD deaths so I expect she died before mid 1837. I suspect she may have died from 1832 to 1837 but I am not convinced that Frank existed in which case you may need to look back as far 1 Apr 1828 which is the date of birth given for her daughter Mary on the IGI.
The remaining family was in Dunham in the 1841 census but it now seems they moved there after Mary died to be closer to her parents who lived there. They probably helped Mary's husband Francis look after all the children. They were alive in 1841 in Dunham.
I hope this helps to narrow the time frame for you to look and is not too confusing.
I am very greatful if you can look as I live in Australia and I cannot check the records myself. The family has been to trying to find this burial for many years. Thank you very much
Sue

Thank you Kerry for your help. The Mary Hempstock in the censuses from 1851 on is Francis' 2nd wife. I am hoping to find the burial / death details of his first wife Mary who died 1828-1841. If anyone can I would be greatful

Thank you Kerry. Do you have any access to the burial registers for Dunham or East Drayton?

Could anyone please check the parish register for East Drayton or Dunham for a burial for a Mary Hempstock. She was born Mary Clifton about 1800. She gave birth to a daughter Mary at East Drayton in 1828 and does not appear in the 1841 census. Her husband Francis Hempstock married again in 1846 (Mary Cobb). In 1841 Francis and his children are listed at Dunham. I live in Australia and would be grateful if there is someone who may be able to check these registers
