Hi Tara, & thanks for the help. 1901 census link for James & Maria http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Dublin/Drumcondra/Drumcondra/1271880/.
He wasn't with the family in the 1911 census but I found him in St Patrick's hospital where he died in June 1911. They had 9 children in all according to census records but I've only ever found 8. Vincent was my maternal grandfather. I've never been able to find anything of Maria's parents other than that they were James & Catherine & he was a builder. (Taken from James & Maria's marriage cert).
Any further help would be much appreciated.

Billy

Sorry, Matthew was my maternal grandfather...... don't know why I said Vincent !

Surely that wouldn't be the case in this, the entry in the baptism records of Kinawley parish...would it?

Thanks

Regards.

Does anyone know what the word 'Lodge', in the Kinawley parish records means. Is it a townland only I couldn't find it on a list of Cavan or Fermanagh townlands.

From records held by St Patrick's Hospital archives where he died. I've never actually questioned it but I suppose that it could be wrong.

After years of searching & dead ends the release of NLI records online have thrown me a possible lifeline. Page 38 Kinawley parish have a James born to a Francisci McKiernan and Catherine Munde?..
I Know James' mother was Catherine from His marraige cert. Would anyone know what the word 'Lodge' refers to in this entry... is it a townland? I realize I may be clutching at straws but can anyone enlighten me or reinforce my findings. From what I gather Munde wouldn't seem to be that common a name &, after hours of searching, this entry is the only one I can find for 1840 that fits.. Once again thank you in anticipation to anyone who can offer any help.

Thanks Shane I'll try the route you've suggested and see if I can come up with anything. :)
