Could Millar possibly be the father's last name?  My mom was also adopted By Joseph and Margaret (Gray) Wood in 1926 in Glasgow.  Her birth surname was her father's and her middle name we assume is from father's side of the family.  Her birth was listed in Glasgow but then transferred to Kilwinning where her mother lived.  Maybe the birth is recored somewhere in another town.   Good luck.  Carol :)

Thank you .  I am sorry I didn't know you would use your credits.  I appreciate that so very much but please save them for yourself.    ;)  I didn't think to look for electoral rolls.  I will do that.

                  Thank you again,  Carol

Robert W. McDonald lived on Caledonia Road in Saltcoats in March 1926.  He signed my mother's birth cert. along with her mother, Jane Little Lambie, who was born Sept. 18, 1898.  Jane married David Lambie May 2, 1919 at Manse, Kilwinning. Jane already had 3 children with David when my mom was born. Jane’s family moved to New Jersey, USA. My mother was born March 27, 1926 at 1 Hill St., Garnethill Glasgow. Her birth name was Jean Waddell McDonald. A nurse named Jessie Crawford C.M.B. was listed in the postal directory at the same address.  Mr. Collins thinks maybe Jessie was a midwife who delivered my mother.  The birth registration was sent on April 7th, 1926 to Kilwinning District 599 entry 51.  My mother was adopted by Joseph and Margaret Gray Cumming Wood, but didn’t legally adopt her until November 15, 1937, 007/AR. Entry 393.  He thinks my mom was kept in the extended family.  Margaret’s mother was Ann McDonald Cumming. Joseph Wood had told my mom that a William Waddell was her father and he lived in Rothesay.  Margaret just cried when mom asked her about her father, so I have no idea what really happened...   I have more information (except for Robert) if you need it let me know.  I didn’t want to write a book here.  My scanner is having a problem so I had to write out most important parts.

                                                                   Thank you, Sincerely, Carol

Thank you for the welcome.  :) Tomorrow I will scan the papers I  have and send them on to you. The information I received a few years ago from a  Mr. Collins who lived in Glasgow as a child helped on other things I didn't know. But Robert is still my elusive butterfly. Also I was given two little kilt-like skirts when I was little one a McDonald tartan and the other a yellow and black MacLeod.  From my mother's side there is no sept that I can find to go with the Macleod so I am at a loss of the meaning of that tartan. I think it was a clue as my mother's adopted mother gave them to me. I don't have them anymore unfortunately.  She brought them to me when she came to the states for a visit  when I was a toddler, now I am 60.
Other family names are on the papers I will forward to you. Thank you for helping. I wish very much to find family before I get too old to search.
Sincerely, Carol

Robert lived on Caldonia Road in Saltcoats in 1926.  He was an enginefitter journeyman supposedly on the railway.  I have searched on more sites than I can remember for years now and still not a thing about him.  There is a possibility he may be related to a Waddell, Wood or Cumming.  Any help greatly appreciated.  Thank you, Carol
